Autoflowering
A cannabis plant that flowers based on age rather than changes in light cycle. Standard (photoperiod) cannabis plants flower when they receive 12 hours of darkness per day — autoflowering plants flower automatically after a set number of weeks regardless of light schedule. Autoflowering strains contain Cannabis ruderalis genetics and are generally faster, smaller, and more forgiving for beginner growers. The tradeoff is typically lower yield and less potency than equivalent photoperiod strains.
