Defoliation

A training technique in which fan leaves are selectively removed from a cannabis plant during the growing cycle to improve light penetration to lower bud sites and improve airflow through the canopy. When done correctly and at the right growth stage, defoliation can improve yield and reduce mold risk. Over-defoliation stresses the plant and can reduce yield — it's a technique that rewards experience.
