Photoperiod
Cannabis plants (the majority of strains) that flower in response to changes in the light/dark cycle rather than age. Outdoors, photoperiod plants begin flowering naturally as days shorten in late summer. Indoors, flowering is triggered by switching the light timer to 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness. Photoperiod strains offer more flexibility and typically higher yields than autoflowering strains, but require more planning and light control.
