Cannabinoid
A class of chemical compounds that interact with the endocannabinoid system. Cannabinoids occur naturally in cannabis (phytocannabinoids), are produced by the human body (endocannabinoids), and can be synthesized in a lab (synthetic cannabinoids). Over 100 phytocannabinoids have been identified in cannabis. The most studied are THC and CBD, but others including CBN, CBG, and CBC are increasingly researched. Cannabinoids produce their effects by binding to or modulating cannabinoid receptors throughout the body.
